A Lifetime of Passion for BBQs

Richard Major started his journey in the BBQ industry at just 13 years old.

With over 30 years of industry experience, his passion and expertise have made him a high-level resource for BBQs on Vancouver Island.

A Note From The Founder, Richard Major:

“Hey Everyone!

My name is Richard, the founder of The Barbecue Cleaning Company and the creator of The Fat Trap!

My love for the BBQ industry started when I was just 13 years old—30 years ago!

It all began when I started working at my best friend’s dad’s BBQ retail store in Kelowna, where I began by assembling barbecues, then diagnosing and repairing, and eventually cleaning them with a mobile cleaning service.

Fast forward a few years, we both had moved to Victoria and tragedy struck. Scott passed away suddenly from a heart attack at just 35 years old. His loss hit me hard, and for a while, I lost my direction.

And in the depths of this heartbreak, I made a promise to honour Scott’s legacy. I committed myself to the BBQ industry.

I started The BBQ Cleaning Company and have now cleaned over 10,000 barbecues.

I’m also very proud to say I’ve created The Fat Trap—an innovative solution for drip pan inserts.

They replace the foil liners for Weber, Napoleon and Broil King BBQ’s.
